Sierra Trails- No doubts just do it!
Just returned home from the stunning Sulayr ride in the Sierra Nevada mountains. In 3 days we rode through very different mountain scenery. Just stunning! And we were even lucky to see a herd of ibex too.
The horses are amazing, well trained and ridden. The hole team is extremely professional and 100% horse people with focus on the horses and their wellbeing.
The ride was with the horses in mind. The horses were given time to rest and drink and going down the mountain side, we would get off and walk.
As a guest, I felt relaxed and safe riding the mountain trails, knowing our guides Dallas and Mordecai were looking out for us and that the horses were well-footed and doing a great job.
Accommodation was great in Sierra Trails own guesthouse in Bubion. Lovely rooms, and a view of the mountains and The Mediterranean in the background.
All in all I give my highest recommendation to Sierra Trails, so no doubts just do it!

Words will never be enough to describe the most epic few days with Dallas and Mordecai, full of knowledge and the best stories! Not forgetting the wonderful Jeanette! It’s like coming back to see family every time, no matter how long you have been away. Breath taking views, stunning trails, picturesque villages and fabulous company every trip is the perfect adventure!
A special mention to the wonderful horses who are so well loved and cared for. The most sure footed of horses with buckets of personality and affection. Would take them all home. Also can’t be forgetting the most amazing picnic lunches made by Dallas. The happiest of times in the mountains… what more could you want! Thank you all xx
A wonderful few days
So enjoyed my first riding holiday since I was 14 riding in this beautiful region – encouraged by my friend who has now been on several holidays with Dallas, it lived up to expectations and more. The horses are beautifully looked after and fit and happy and their wellbeing and safety as well as the rider is of upmost importance. Their endurance in such mountainous terrain is incredible. Dallas’ picnics were delicious and the local restaurant meals a treat. All in all a wonderful experience and one I would highly recommend

Riding the Sierra Trails with Dallas and her incredible horses is a truly wonderful experience . Fantastic in everyway which is why i am just back from my third trail ride!

I am now into double figures with the number of rides i have carried out with Dallas , Mordecai and Jeanette over the past 12 years The horses continue to be fantastic – sure footed for the terrain and happy in the work and so well cared for.
Dallas’s picnics continue to be ;legendary and the accommodation simple but always welcoming with plenty of local food to enjoy The landscape through which you ride is unspoilt and breath taking .with the flora and fauna unforgettable – the smell of thyme and pine forests always a reminder of the Sierra Nevada.
Great company within our group of 6 – some old friends and some new and also within Dallas Team .
Why go anywhere else when you have found perfection !

Amazing trip!
A truly fantastic trip! We went as a group of 3 friends, and had a truly wonderful 4 days riding.
Everything ran incredibly smoothly, and we felt very well lucked after throughout. From our collection at the airport, to meeting Dallas as the first nights accommodation, we felt very well looked after from the beginning of our trip.
We were all well paired with our horses to our ability and wishes for the trip, which was great!
The riding treks were exactly as described, beautiful scenery and trails that you wouldn’t normally get to visit or experience which was exactly what we were looking for.
The horses are all clearly very well looked after and their wellbeing is the top priority on the treks, which as our trek was in July and in very hot weather conditions, was reassuring!
Accommodation was also comfortable throughout and food (be that the picnics for lunch or the dinner reservations in the evenings) were all excellent!
A brilliant few days, and an excellent trip!! 🌟

Spending a week on the Alpujarra trail ride with Sierra Trails was nothing short of unforgettable. The landscapes were stunning and incredibly diverse – from rugged mountain passes to quiet valleys, every day felt unique and breathtaking. The horses were outstanding: reliable, full of character, and the very best representatives of their breeds. They know the terrain so well and make you feel completely safe, even on the trickiest paths. Dallas and Mordecai were the perfect hosts and guides – highly safety-minded, knowledgeable, and at the same time wonderfully warm and approachable. For anyone who loves mountains, long trail rides, and exceptional horses, this is an absolute must.
Had a great 3h ride yesterday! Jaleo, 'my' horse was great (calm, forward, strong & friendly) and Dallas is a skilled guide and very nice company. Beautiful surroundings! The horses are clearly well taken care of, happy and can enjoy their time with the herd on the pastures when they're free. I highly recommend riding with Sierra Trails!

I went for a 3 hour ride today and it was amazing! The horses are very calm and brave and Dallas and the other people were very friendly. There was a lot of attention paid to the horses and they are in very good shape. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to ride in the Sierra Nevada.
Adventure of a lifetime! Beautiful mountain landscapes, varied trails, lovely picnics, and most importantly, wonderful & happy horses. El Sulayr 3-day horse-riding break with Dallas Love is an amazing experience. The superb organization by Dallas and her colleagues means all you need to do is get in the saddle and enjoy the views and bouncing manes. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend the 3-day ride El Sulayr. Amazing views! The hosts are great and organisation was perfect. Horses are very kind and smart, and it is obvious they are absolutely loved and well-taken care of.
I had a great experience, and I highly recommend this stable if you’re looking for a place to ride near the Barranco De Poqueira pueblos. The horses are beautiful and fun to ride, and the trails and views are gorgeous. Dallas and Mordecai were the trek leaders (I only did one day but the rest of the group did 4 days), and they were great, very professional and personable. They have rides from a couple hours to multiple days, so there’s something for every level rider, and it’s a fantastic way to see La Alpujarra.
I rode on the seven day Alpujarras Ride in May 2022. Beautiful terrain, good horses, great food, and knowledgeable guides. I really enjoyed the trip, and highly recommend riding with Dallas and her outfit!
I went for the one week Alpujarra trail and everybody I meet now has to suffer from my endlessly talking about it with shining eyes. I join the other guests in praising the organisation, hotels and overall experience. Just some additional remarks... The horses: whatever Dallas tells you about their breed, there is at least one third mountain goat in each of them. Incredible how they climb up and down those paths. The food: Honestly, the kilo I gained is all muscle and has nothing to do with the spanish breakfast, the tasty picknicks, the wine, the superb dinners... Did I mention the wine? I'll definitely be back!
What an incredible holiday! We had a fabulous week long trail ride through the stunning scenery of the Alpujarras. As a family of 4 ( children 11 & 14) Dallas made sure that we were well matched with our mounts and was extremely thoughtful and patient with us all. The horses were superb- sure footed, responsive and in great condition. Each day we enjoyed a wonderful picnic made by Dallas who is clearly a great cook. This experience has created life long memories for us all. Must also mention the lovely Jeanette who met us at the airport and ensured everything behind the scenes ran smoothly.
I have been privileged to ride in dozens of countries through superb landscapes -- but these horses are something else. Brave, strong, charismatic, full of personality and beautifully schooled. Sure-footed and big-hearted, they took us up rocky paths, pine forests, open fields, white-washed villages, up and up and far away from the stress and chatter of our urban lives. The views are beautiful, of course. But above all, these mountains resonate with a deep sense of serenity. Each night we collapsed in simple, clean beds and slept like babies. Each morning we woke to a delicious breakfast spread with tomatoes that actually tasted like tomatoes. Dallas guided us expertly, sharing the history of this land while paying close attention to the safety and comfort of both riders and horses. We just enjoyed the moment, enjoyed our horses, enjoyed the view, enjoyed the food. Do yourself the favor of pressing that reset button as well. You could not be in better hands, perched on better hooves.
We rode with Dallas for a day in early Jan, she is a superb guide, is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and has fantastically maintained horses. The trail was incredible and she was a great company. We could not recommend Sierra Trails more.
My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our magnificent day’s horse riding experience, exploring the beauty of the mountain range above & beyond Capileira in the unspoiled & wild Alpujarras. Our lovely guides, Jeanette, Lisa & Hilde were very skilled & friendly & provided us with well cared-for horses, suited to our ability. A delicious freshly prepared lunch, home-made by Dallas, the owner of the business, was an added treat! Highly recommended.
We loved our ride with Dallas. She takes great care of the horses, the landscapes of Sierra Nevada are incredible and we had good fun on our two hour ride.
Dallas is an amazing host. She knows the trails like no other. She'll take you up the mountain and make you feel like no one else has been there before! The views are just breath taking!
